Race Info & Route

This year both the 10k and family fun run events will see a MASS START. Starting in the village and finishing back at the same location with a food and drink festival.

When: Sunday 18th September 2022.

9:15am Fun Run start

10am 10k start

Food and drink festival throughout – adjacent to start and finish.

Where: Start and finish at Sandridge Primary School, Woodcock Hill, Sandridge St Albans, AL4 9EB.

Why: For health, for fun, for the children of Sandridge Primary School.

With whom: This year we are going to be running TOGETHER. After 2 years of socially distanced covid running, we are crossing all fingers and toes that 2022 will be the Sandridge 10k’s inaugural mass start event.

This year we are introducing a GPS audio guided app for all runners to use. The app will give you audio instructions as you run around our scenic 10k route.

Route: Both the 10k and family fun run are TRAIL runs. The 10k run is a TRAIL run – predominantly off road on paths and woodland terrain. Please be aware of trip hazards and uneven footing.

This is a ‘live’ route and given the nature of the event, runners may encounter walkers, cyclists, horse riders and other members of the public. Please respect social distancing and be aware you may be required to give way. The Sandridge10k is a scenic rather than PB course!

There will be physical route markings out on race day and marshals stationed along the course.

Marshals will be stationed at points where trail intersects with road. All runners need to be aware there may be live traffic and should engage road safety sense at all times.

**If you would like to run your own race wherever you are you have our full endorsement. Plan your own beautiful 10k, run it on 18th September and send us your ‘evidence’ (strava/garmin/other screenshot) we will then post out your medal**

Music: Yes! You are welcome to listen to your own music as you run but do bear in mind this is a ‘live’ route and a sociable event – so why not leave off the headphones and enjoy the company of those around you!

Water: Hydrate well before your run and look forward to a cool drink when you finish, or take a bottle with you to have on route. There will be no water stations on route.

Chip timing: This is a chip timed event – be sure to wear your race bib wtih the chip attached, drop it in the recycling box at the finish, then log on and check out where you came on the leaderboard.

Medals: YES! You have the option at registration to choose one of our Sandridge10k bespoke medals OR to have a tree planted on your behalf – you will receive an emailed photo of said sapling and location (should you wish to visit it), once you have completed the race.

Race numbers: Race numbers with integrated chip timing will be available to collect from Race HQ on race day – don’t forget to bring safety pins!!

First aid: Qualified first aiders will be available around the course and at Race HQ for the duration of the event within our planned event times.

Please run safely, look after each other and have fun
